Director: Victor Csudai (2015)
“A cheerful story of a sad man…“
Viktor Csudai’s delightful Slovak comedy Vojtech is a humorous picture of our times.
It is a crazy tale of a boring middle aged man who becomes a victim of his own existence and through a series of unfortunate events is forced to reinvent himself, with hilarious consequences. Vojtech, played convincingly by veteran actor Matej Landl is a selfless goodie who ended up alone. At work he is lacklustre and in private, he has only his dear pigeons to keep him company. Lonely, childless, a bit boring man, he starts looking around for a new chance at life. He could never imagine that one day he’ll visit a gentlemen’s club, sleep next to a kind homeless man and become friends with young sect members. He would like to be a hero of every day, but the white socks he wears with his sandals stand in his way.
A hope for real happiness stands nearby. Right next to the line for the baguette actually.
