Mark Walters didn’t set out to be a filmmaker, but as a traveller who just happened to carry a camera, his love for new worlds and life experiences, means he has created personal film projects that have helped develop a style of moviemaking characterised by plainspoken perspectives and a great idiosyncratic talent for contemporary storytelling. Mark’s pictures recall worlds of unencumbered simplicity and unhindered living, a sterling portrayal of all that is true and pure with personal voyages to foreign lands.

As Mark himself puts it: “As wave sliders, we are inspired by waves to travel the globe in search of perfect waves but the deeper you look and the further you go, you realise that it’s not about finding that perfect slide… it’s about the people you meet and what you find along the way and how these experiences change you deep within.”

The film plays in Sydney as part of the O’Neill Sydney Surf Film Festival at Bondi Pavilion on 28 January and at ICMS Many on 31 January. Tickets to both include a full night’s program of surf films. More info/tix
