A number of East Germans were murdered trying to cross the Berlin Wall. In this documentary, a few individual case studies are explored in this devastating insight into the enforcement of separation by the totalitarian regime. The film focuses on one woman whose trauma over the death of her son continues today. Delving into intricate detail and using some archival footage, the film follows her journey in trying to find her son’s body and the border soldier responsible for the murder. Researching the Stasi files, she eventually discovers details of the marksman responsible for shooting her son. The climax of the film is an encounter between him and the victim’s son. What will happen? The film clearly indicates that there are many absorbing stories to be told about the time of the Berlin Wall.
