Director Teddy Soeriaatmadja follows up the award-winning Lovely Man (IFF 2012) with this story of a young, porn-addicted taxi driver whose obsessive sexual desires conflict shockingly with the sexual piety instructed at his local mosque. Ahmad’s time is divided between attending Koran classes by day and driving passengers around at night. His solitary existence is interrupted when he falls in love with Kinar, a prostitute who happens to be his neighbour, and then begins to follow her around the city. Inspired his mosque’s religious teaching, Ahmad wants nothing more than to save Kinar and himself from this empty life.
