The “docu-musical” - a documentary set to music - is in itself a groundbreaking idea. That this one was filmed inside the Northern Territory’s largest prison and proves to be both “funny and achingly sad” (The Australian) only makes this more of a must-see. Kelrick Martin’s Prison Songs allows inmates from Berrimah Prison to share their personal experiences through song. Screen for the Sydney season of the Human Rights Arts and Film Festival, we suggest booking ahead as many sessions have either sold-out or are selling fast at the festival.
