Sixteen-year-old misfit Alex is on a dangerous path. A high school drop-out and drug user, Alex is depressed and has committed acts of self-harm. In desperation her adoptive mother sends her on an internship at a horse farm on the starkly beautiful northernmost tip of Germany’s coastline. There she meets riding instructor Nina, a 30-ish lesbian taking a break from city life and her troubled long-term relationship. Also at the farm is Kathy, a rich girl who has brought her beautiful horse on vacation. Alex initially hates her new environment and dislikes Nina and Kathy. After her initial anger has subsided she slowly finds common ground and forms a close friendship with Kathy. But one weekend when Alex and Kathy are left alone on the farm things get out of control … The special connection between girls and horses is elegantly woven into this beautifully filmed and gently told coming-of-age story.
