Shot against the leafy suburbs and twilight ports of Athens, Thodoris Atheridis adapts and stars in an accomplished and absorbing cinematic version of his own stage play. In it, he is Antonis (Thodoris Atheridis), a firefighter living in Piraeus. On the eve of his wedding to Natassa (Panagiota Vlanti), an old flame, Anna (Smaragda Karydis), suddenly arrives on his doorstep. As the former lovers reconnect, it becomes clear they still have feelings for each other but Antonis is unwilling to call off his impending nuptials. The plot takes an unexpected twist leading Antonis on an outlandish journey of laughs, love and heartbreak.
Thanks to an undeniably dangerous onscreen chemistry between Atheridis and Karydis, Love Struck was the runaway choice for winner of the Audience Award at this year’s Hellenic Film Academy Awards.
