Japanese Film Festival: Confessions (告白)

Loading Events

A chilling psychological drama of injustice and revenge. Outgoing teacher, Moriguchi, reveals to her seventh‑grade class that she knows the recent death of her four-year-old daughter was no accident, and that two class members are responsible. Circumventing a judicial system which protects her daughters’ killers, she exacts her own brand of punishment. Confessions tramples on the usual saccharine portrayal of Japanese schools. Brilliantly yet icily shot and accompanied by a jarringly unsettling soundtrack, this film compels from start to finish. (Japanese with English subtitles.)
