After a modest first showcase in Melbourne undertaken by CaSFFA in 2013, the long held belief that an appetite for moving stories from Central Europe is strong was confirmed in 2014 with an expanded Czech & Slovak Film Festival was staged in Melbourne and Sydney. The festival showcased in both cities a much larger offering of new releases and past classics, featuring over 40 films, including documentaries and shorts.
Following 2014 resounding success, and due to its popularity, film showcases are once again accompanied by complimentary exhibitions and events in 2015 as the festival returns to Sydney and also screens in Perth. The festival is overseen by IKSIMA Films, a Sydney based non-profit company officially established in March 2014, which consists of a group of professionals that for some time have had the idea of presenting everything film related from the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Australian audiences.
