In Sydney to support his old friends New Order at their Sydney Opera House Vivid concerts, Mark Reeder - the star protagonist of runaway underground success B-Movie Lust & Sound In West Berlin 1979-89, will be live In Conversation for this special encore screening at Golden Age.
Spanning post-punk to Berlin’s infamous LOVE PARADE parties, and featuring unbelievable footage of Joy Division, Gudrun Gut, Blix Bargeld, Nick Cave, Cristiane F, Malaria!, DJ Westbam and many others, B-Movie is a fast-paced, debauched trip through ‘80s Berlin which premiered in Sydney at the Antenna Documentary Film Festival.
In the eighties Berlin was like a b-movie, ugly and poor, but wild, creative, and incredibly sexy. Manchester-born Berlin refugee, Mark Reeder not only lived through the decade, he captured a lot of what went on in this town that never slept, on his super-8 camera. From personal footage of Nick Cave’s bedroom, to wild punk gigs, absurdist art performances in galleries, the birth of German techno, street protests and the eventual fall of the Berlin Wall.
