Japanese Film Festival ENCORE: Japan Academy Awards Edition. Meet JFF Encore, the newest addition to the Japanese Film Festival event calendar! JFF Encore is a mini festival highlighting the best films screened at the JFF. JFF Encore makes its debut this July with the Japan Academy Awards Edition, a hand-picked selection of Japan Academy Award winning titles from the last decade.
The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) started in 1997 with three free film screenings by Festival Director Masafumi Konomi. Last year, the Festival celebrated its 17th year with an audience of approximately 25,000 nation-wide, quickly taking its place as one of the largest Japanese Film Festivals outside of Japan. The Festival has enjoyed great success, with the opportunity to showcase a vast variety of cinematic delights from classics to newly released films currently screening in Japan. The 18th Japanese Film Festival is scheduled to run between October and December 2014 on a national scale. The Japanese Film Festival is presented and run by The Japan Foundation, Sydney.
