From humble beginnings, the JFF has grown exponentially over the past 17 years, enjoying success in all areas. Last year the festival celebrated its 17th year and with audience attendance around the 20,000 mark, it has becoe one of the largest Japanese Film Festivals outside of Japan. Last year, JFF added three new principal cities - Brisbane, Perth, and Canberra - to the two flagship cities of Sydney and Melbourne, taking the JFF to a national stage.
